Privacy Policy

How this website handles visitor information.

Last updated: 26 October 2026

Who is responsible for this site?

Inner Worlds (innerworlds.uk) is a personal writing and reflection project maintained by Andrew Garley in the United Kingdom. Andrew is the contact for questions about how information is handled on this website. You can reach him through the Inner Worlds Facebook page.

Information collected when you visit

You can read Inner Worlds without creating an account or giving us your name. The website does not currently offer a contact form, mailing-list sign-up or online checkout.

As with most websites, the hosting service may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser details, pages requested, date and time, and security or error events. This information helps deliver the site, troubleshoot faults, understand broad usage and protect it from misuse.

If you contact us

Contact currently takes place through Facebook. If you send a message, we may see your profile name and the information you choose to share. We use it to read and reply to your enquiry or to consider material you have offered for the project. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely needed.

A private message or personal experience will not be published on Inner Worlds simply because you have sent it. We will ask before quoting or identifying you in an article.

Why information is used

The usual lawful basis for necessary website operation, security and handling genuine enquiries is legitimate interests: running a safe, functioning site and responding to people who contact us. Where you separately agree that a story or contribution may be published, we will rely on that permission for the agreed use. You are not required to provide personal information to browse the site.

Cookies and outside services

We have not added advertising trackers or non-essential analytics cookies to the current website. Essential technical functions supplied by hosting or security systems may still use cookies or similar technologies. If the site later introduces optional analytics or other non-essential cookies, this policy and the relevant choices will be updated before they are used.

Links to Facebook and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. We do not control those services. Facebook may process messages and account information under its own policies, potentially outside the UK.

Sharing, security and keeping information

Technical website data is handled by our hosting provider, Krystal Hosting, and any necessary infrastructure or security providers. Messages sent through Facebook are handled by Meta as well as by Andrew when he reads or replies. We do not sell visitor information.

Technical records are kept in line with the hosting service’s operational and security retention arrangements. Enquiries are kept only while reasonably useful for responding, keeping a necessary record or managing a contribution, and then reviewed for deletion. No internet service can promise absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal information, to object to certain uses, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis. To raise a request, contact Andrew through the Inner Worlds Facebook page. We may need to confirm your identity before discussing personal information.

If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
